Sensors
If we have learned anything during the last 40 years in the dryer industry it is that only the best is good enough!
A poor quality sensor gives incorrect data to the control system that controls the drying process according to that data. That becomes visible on the bottom line of your balance sheet.

The same applies to the choice of psychrometer fabric. The psychrometer fabric is used to measure the wet temperature in the dry kiln. Water from the psychrometer tank evaporates from the fabric when energy is taken from the temperature sensor body, thereby lowering its temperature. Contaminants remain in the fabric and reduce its evaporation ability. The sensor begins to show an incorrect value. The drying process is then controlled according to incorrect readings.
A good psychrometer fabric should be highly hygroscopic without retaining water. You must not dry crockery with it. It is to improve your wood drying.
Install a new psychrometer fabric when replacing batch in the kiln. You should change this every week in your progressive kiln.
When drying to lower moisture content it may be better to use double fabrics on the sensor.
