Bevi Lumber Kiln Motors
Electric motors specifically designed for lumber kiln applications
Electric motors specially adapted for operation in lumber kilns. They are designed to withstand the tough demands of high ambient temperatures, high humidity, and large radial and axial forces on the motor shaft.
Motors for tougher conditions
Bevi’s specially adapted motors for various ambient temperatures withstand the harsh stresses of lumber drying. Bevi manufactures cost-effective motors with high efficiency and long service life. Bearings are adapted for high humidity, and all screws, nameplates, grease nipples, and cable entries are made of stainless steel.
Motors are normally in B3 configuration but can be modified to B5 or B3/B5. Motors can be equipped with anti-condensation heaters and direct-mounted cables without terminal boxes if needed.
Construction
The stator housing and bearing shields are made of heavy-duty cast iron for maximum durability and bearing alignment. The terminal box is standard on the drive side but can be ordered on the non-drive side.
All external screws, nameplates, grease nipples, and cable entries are stainless steel. The non-drive side is fully enclosed without shaft, fan, or fan cover. Bearings are designed for high ambient temperatures and are of robust dimensions. Motors are standard-rated for frequency converter operation.
Maintenance
Electric motors from size 160 and up come standard with grease nipples for bearing lubrication and grease drainage. All motors are supplied with high-temperature grease.
Enclosure
Lumber kiln motors are delivered as standard with IP55 rating but can be changed to IP44 by removing the two condensation plugs located on the underside of the stator body.
Temperature Monitoring
Motors have built-in thermistors for effective overheating protection or monitoring/alarm.
A dedicated cable entry is provided for this.
Motors can be modified with thermal contacts if preferred.
Cooling
Motors are designed to be cooled by the airflow from the kiln fan and do not have their own cooling fan.
For kilns with particularly large fan hubs, the motor can be ordered with its own cooling fan.
