In this case, just outside the kiln on the discharge side—or sometimes inside near the outlet door—there is a mechanism that drives a long Draw Bar with flaps that interact with an action beam located beneath the rod.

The interaction between the rod and the beam is called package feed stroke, and we can design this system.
When the rod makes a stroke of about 6 meters, it moves all carts inside the kiln and one outside that is ready to be fed in. The total weight moved in one stroke is typically between 300 and 350 metric tons.
