E Carts

The E cart resembles the letter “E” from the side but with five beams instead of three. Some carts may have more than five beams. This model is used for chamber kilns, especially when the kiln has doors on both sides.
It is loaded by a forklift, which drives between the cart beams.

This is an efficient way to keep the kiln running with minimal downtime. One cart is kept fully loaded with wet lumber, and as soon as the lumber on the other cart inside the kiln is dry, the kiln is shut down and the doors are opened. The dry lumber is pushed out with a few strokes of a long hydraulic cylinder. Then the cart with wet lumber is pushed into the kiln and locked in place. The doors are closed and the kiln is restarted.

These carts typically have between 60–100 wheels.
About half of the wheels are flat without flanges, and the others have flanges on both sides to guide along the rails. They are usually made of black steel S355 and painted with epoxy paint. We have also delivered carts made of stainless steel.
